How can I insure a rebuilt titled car in California?
I finished restoring my 1973 Volkswagen Thing and now I am looking to get it insured. I bought it at a salvage auction in Texas, but I live in California now. How can I get it insured?

The first step towards registration and
car insurance
is to submit a completed Application for Title or Registration form. You can download the form from the California DMV website.The vehicle will also need to pass all required inspections for California. Once you have the forms filled out, you will need to bring the following with you to the DMV:
- Proof of ownership
- Certified Inspection Form
- Brake and Light Adjustment Certificates
- Title and Registration fees
After you convert the title successfully to rebuilt, you can find insurance with companies like
Progressive
