How can I get OEM parts for my car after an accident?
I wasn't at fault and the other party's insurance company quoted the repair using aftermarket parts. I don't want any parts on my vehicle replaced with aftermarket; I only want OEM. Should I just get the car repaired with OEM parts and then deal with the insurance company after?

“You can try to negotiate with the other party’s
car insurance
company to get the parts on your vehicle replaced with original equipment manufacturer (OEM) parts. Get an estimate from a repair shop that will use OEM parts. Most auto repair shops can get OEM parts at a similar cost to aftermarket ones. If you’re able to provide an estimate that is close to what the insurance company quoted, you are more likely to get your repairs approved.
If you choose to repair your vehicle using OEM parts and then inform the insurance company later, your claim will likely be denied. Insurance companies typically work directly with repair shops when they are paying for the cost of repairs. WIthout approval, you run the risk of paying out of pocket for the entire cost.
