Getting a refund for unused car insurance is surprisingly easy in most instances!
You may be eligible for a refund on your
car insurance
if you paid in full. When you pay your policy premium upfront but cancel mid-term, you often will receive a prorated refund from your insurance company. A prorated refund would be a refund for the coverage you did not use.
If you pay your insurance premium monthly, you probably won’t receive a refund. Since you’re paying for coverage each month, canceling would mean you are no longer covered. The only time you may receive a refund is if you are canceling in the middle of the month or had just paid your insurance bill.
