How can I fix a shorted car battery?

I think my car battery has shorted out, since I've ruled out other issues or problems. Can I fix a shorted car battery, or do I have to buy a new one?

I’m so sorry that happened! A shorted battery might be covered by your
used car warranty
, but if it isn’t, you might still be able to fix it.
Disconnect the
dead battery
, then recharge it to see if it holds a charge. With any luck this will charge the battery.
However, if the battery has visible damage or doesn’t charge, you might just want to get a new battery, as it’s likely irreparable.
If you want to keep all aspects of your car running smoothly, you may also want to review your insurance policy to make sure that you’re getting the best deal on the coverage you need. If you want to do this easily, check out the
