We were adjusting our baby’s car seat earlier and it’s somehow become stuck in an angle that’s way too far back. We’ve tried again and again, but it hasn’t budged. How can we fix a car seat stuck in recline?

If it’s any consolation, having a stuck car seat is a common issue! You won’t be the first or the last parent to deal with this issue.
Here’s a super quick rundown of the steps you can take to fix a stuck car seat:
Review your instruction manual. You’ve probably already done this, but it can be helpful to know where and how exactly your car seat adjusts.
Use some force. Try laying the seat on its side, or using a helper to push down on the adjustment button while you press the seat forward. You should head an audible click when things move successfully.
Use lubricant. If some pushing and shoving don’t work, try dabbing on some lubricant or oil to get things working again.
Contact the manufacturer. If nothing else has worked, and you believe the car seat may be stuck permanently, then contact the manufacturer of your seat. You can hopefully get some more specific advice or a replacement!
Having a stuck or jammed car seat can be frustrating, but making sure they’re working properly is a necessity. Once you have your car seat fixed, take this time to make sure another car necessity is covered—your insurance.
