How can I duplicate my Honda car key?
I want to get another key for my Honda to give to my girlfriend. What’s the best way to duplicate a car key?

“Having multiple car keys is a great way to prevent
lockouts
! To duplicate a car key, get in touch with your dealership or locksmith.You will need to provide:
- The year, make, and model of your Honda
- The vehicle identification number (VIN)
- Proof of ownership, such as your registration and title
- The original car key
Older cars are typically easier to make duplicate keys as the keys are simpler. For newer cars, it typically takes about four hours to make a duplicate key since newer keys are not just cut pieces of metal anymore; newer keys also need to be programmed to your car. Once the key is made, the key maker will let you know whether you’ll need to pick it up or if it can be delivered to you.
After you receive your new key, be sure to test it on your vehicle immediately to ensure that it works—in the locks and ignition. If it does not work, notify the locksmith or dealership right away.
