How can I dry a wet car carpet fast?
My town got some unexpected snow this week and I didn’t have time to switch out my car mats to their waterproof replacements. Now my car carpets are soaking wet. What are some ways I can dry my wet car carpet quickly?

Unexpected snow and weather changes definitely put a damper on your plans. That said, drying a wet car interior as quickly as possible avoids bacteria growth, mold, mildew, and very unpleasant odors.
- Find a safe, dry place where you can park your car for a few hours. Your driveway or a parking garage would be ideal.
- Pull out your floor mats and set them aside to air dry.
- Press a dry towel to the wet areas to absorb as much water as possible. Always use a dry part of the towel to press into the wet spots.
- If you can, get a few fans and set them up to blow through your car’s open doors. Small portable fans from your local department store will do the trick if you don’t have anything on hand.
- Purchase or rent a wet-dry vacuum cleaner. This type of vacuum cleaner is designed to pick up liquids and is usually the fastest and most effective way to dry your car carpet.
