How can I drive from Salt Lake City to Phoenix?

I’m interested in taking a scenic road trip from Salt Lake City to Phoenix. Is the fastest, most direct route aesthetically pleasing, or will I need to make frequent detours?

If you’re looking to get there quickly, the best driving route from
Salt Lake City
to
Phoenix
uses the I-15 S/I-80 E, the I-40 W, and the I-17 S. The total drive time is just over 10 hours with plenty of breathtaking sights along the way.
You’ll pass through gorgeous destinations like Bryce Canyon National Park, Grand Canyon National Park, and the Meteor Crater National Landmark. You can see many of these mountains and valleys from the interstate—or, if you want to get up-close-and-personal, they’ll be just a short ride from the highway.
If you don’t mind adding about 30-60 minutes to your total drive time, you can stay on the I-15 S a bit longer and drive through
Las Vegas
. Then, you’ll switch to US-93 S to head off to Salt Lake City.
A final option is to take US-6 E to I-70 E, and then to US-191 S. This is the longest route, but you’ll pass through Moab, Navajo Nation, and the Fort Apache Reservation.
