I’m looking into buying a used car and am trying to conduct some research to inform my purchase. Chevy Cavaliers seem practical and were around for a long time. Were there ever any recalls?
1994 - Over-torqued drive axle may cause the steering wheel to separate from the drive axle.
1995 - Faulty accelerator cable could result in loss of vehicle control. Improper welding on the chassis and front suspension increases the risk of a crash.
1996 - Hazard lights may not flash when the interior button is pressed. Defective windshield wipers reduce visibility.
1997 - Risk of wheel separating from the vehicle. Spare tire is fitted with incorrect rims, which could result in a sudden loss of air.
1998 - Defective rear suspension trailing arm bolts may increase crash risk. Airbags deploy with excessive force risking serious bodily injury. Improperly welded door panels could increase injury in a crash.
1999 - Defective instrument panel lights.
2000: A brake fluid leak could partially disable the brake system. A leaking fuel pipe may cause vehicular fire.
2002 - Defective rack and pinion bearings cause a risk of fire in the steering column.
2004: Brake lights and turn signals may not illuminate. Defective fastener for rear safety belt. A risk of fire in the steering column.
