Do I have to keep making payments on a car loan that my ex-boyfriend and I took out before we broke up?
"I took out a joint car loan with my boyfriend at the time for $5,000. After we broke up, he kept the car.

“No matter how you feel about the break up, don’t stop making payments on the car loan. Doing so will only make the situation worse.
Because you’re both on the loan, you have little recourse as far as payments. If you don’t pay, it could tarnish your credit for the next seven years.
The best advice is to get the car paid off as quickly as possible. Because $5,000, minus the amount you’ve already paid, isn’t a ton of money in the grand scheme of your entire life, you’ll have to just bite the bullet to preserve your credit.”
