The first generation Mariner was launched in 2005 with a four-speed automatic transmission. In 2009, the second generation of the vehicle included an upgraded six-speed automatic transmission. The 2011 model was the final one offered, as Ford discontinued the Mercury brand due to declining sales.
If you want a manual transmission, the Ford Escape is the way to go. It’s quite similar to the Mariner and actually more affordable. Of course, you’ll still have to shop the used car lots. The Escape was only available with manual transmission through its first, second, and third generations. The fourth generation, which was launched in 2020, no longer had manual as an option.
Shopping for a used vehicle can be a long and exhausting process—especially if you have very specific desires regarding your car’s powertrain. Once you finally find the perfect automobile for you, you won’t want to spend even more time shopping around for a customized car insurance policy.
