Does the Lexus certified warranty cover the battery?

I’ve been looking at a Lexus certified pre-owned vehicle to bring home. However, I want to make sure that the warranty is halfway decent. While I’m fairly certain about what’s covered under the powertrain and basic warranty, I’m not sure about parts—will the Lexus certified warranty cover the battery?

Unfortunately, the Lexus certified warranty does not cover the battery in most cases, as Lexus considers the failure of this part to be basic wear and tear. However, Lexus may replace the battery at no cost to you, but only if:
  • The battery is a general OEM part installed at the factory or by a licensed technician at the dealership.
  • The battery fails within the 1-year, 12,000-mile (whichever comes first) Lexus parts warranty.
