You’re right—the last
Ford F-150
produced with an available manual transmission was in the 2008 model year. However, it had to be paired with a V6 engine. The last model year in which you can find a manual F-150 with a V8 engine is 2003. The difficulty in finding a manual transmission pickup truck isn’t just a Ford issue. Very few manufacturers make any manual transmission vehicles at all, and this number is especially dwindling for trucks and SUVs. Here’s a rundown of the new manual transmission pickup trucks available on the market since 2018:
- Chevrolet Colorado(2018)
- GMC Canyon(2018)
- Nissan Frontier(2018 and 2019)
- Toyota Tacoma(2018 to 2022)
- Jeep Gladiator(2020 to 2022)
You read that right—there are only two pickup trucks currently produced for North American markets that offer a manual transmission today. That means the hunt for a used manual pickup truck will get tougher as time goes on, and you may have to settle for either an older model year or a newer truck with an automatic transmission.
