What are driving glasses?

What exactly are driving glasses? How are they different from regular ones or sunglasses?

There are lots of different kinds of glasses out there, and they’re not all created equal. Driving glasses are typically non-prescription glasses that are specially designed to help you see the road better. They will usually be treated with a special coating that will scatter and diffuse bright light, which helps to reduce glare and eye strain.
Many driving glasses (especially ones for night driving) will have a yellow tint to them, which filters out the bright blue tones in oncoming headlights and street signs, and helps to increase contrast and definition in darker conditions.
Some driving glasses are polarized as well, but be aware that polarized glasses make it difficult (and sometimes impossible) to see LCD screens. If your car’s dashboard includes screens, polarized lenses would not be a good pick for driving glasses.
