Does the 2017 BMW X5 have a spare tire?
My wife and I just bought a used 2017 BMW X5, and we can’t find a spare tire. Maybe the previous owner used it? I don’t know. Should there be a spare tire in our X5?

A few years ago, many car manufacturers including BMW stopped outfitting new cars with spare tires. In fact, over one-third of new cars now come without spare tires. Removing the spare tire allowed car manufacturers to lighten the weight of their cars, claim slightly better fuel efficiency, and pass a bit of cost onto customers.
That said, BMW didn’t totally hang its customers out to dry. Instead of a spare tire, BMW started equipping new cars with run-flat tires, which last long enough after being punctured for drivers to reach an auto shop or their garage.
