Does Root insurance cover a rebuilt title?
I have a car with a rebuilt title and I’d like to get insurance for it. A friend told me that Root insurance will cover a rebuilt car. Is this true?

Rebuilt titles can be a touchy topic for some insurers! Root insurance does cover a
rebuilt title
, as long as the vehicle meets certain criteria. Vehicles that sustain severe damage are often labeled as a total loss by the insurance company and are given a
salvage title
. This is also commonly referred to as a branded title. These vehicles often become scrap metal, but you can purchase one of these fixer-uppers if you’re willing to go through the restoration process.Salvaged-titled vehicles are illegal to operate on public roads, but you can trade the salvage title for a rebuilt title if you make all the necessary repairs to get it in legal working condition. This typically involves using a certified mechanic and passing a state inspection.
Root does sell
car insurance
for rebuilt-titled vehicles, but you must be able to provide a valid Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) and any other documentation the insurer requests—including proof that the vehicle passed inspection.
