Does renters insurance cover computer damage?
I have a renters insurance policy for my current apartment. I was recently walking to my living with my laptop and I dropped it. The screen is cracked and it isn’t working that well. Would my renters insurance cover the computer damage?

Renters insurance only covers damage to your personal property from
covered perils
. Covered perils include:- Fire
- Smoke
- Theft
- Vandalism
- Freezing
- Lightning
If a fire, or any other covered peril, had damaged your computer, you could submit a claim. However, renters insurance doesn’t cover accidental damage that’s preventable, such as dropping your computer or spilling water on it.
