Does renters insurance cover bed bug extermination?
I was doing some spring cleaning, and unfortunately, I found bed bugs. I’m getting ready to call an exterminator and trying to figure out what the budget will be. Will my renters insurance cover bed bug extermination?

Unfortunately, most
renters insurance
policies do not cover bed bug extermination. There are a few exceptions, but the majority of the time bed bugs are not covered by renters policies. Renters insurance is meant to cover unforeseen events, like a fire or falling objects. Exterminating infestations of bed bugs, termites, mice, or other pests is considered to be the maintenance of a home, not a sudden peril, and therefore are not covered by renters policies.
