Does New Jersey require a front license plate?

I’m moving to New Jersey next month due to a job transfer. However, I want to make sure that I have all my ducks in a row so to speak when it comes to my car registration. Do I need to get a front license plate in New Jersey?

New Jersey is one of 31 states that requires both a front license plate and a rear license plate. The idea behind requiring a front license plate is that cars are more identifiable to law enforcement in the event of a crime or a traffic violation.
The good news is that it doesn’t cost you extra to get a front plate, as it’s already factored into the registration. Keep in mind that you have 60 days to get a New Jersey driver’s license, register your car, and title it in the state, so act quickly once you get settled in.
