Does GEICO cover someone else driving my car?

My roommate’s car just broke down. He works at home, so he’s not in dire need of a new car. I’m thinking of telling him he can borrow my car if he needs to run an errand. But before I do, I want to make sure he’s covered under my policy. Will GEICO cover someone else driving my car?

That’s downright friendly of you to let your roommate borrow your car, so go ahead and let him know!
GEICO
covers someone else driving your car, as long as they only drive it occasionally and you give them permission to do so.
This is known as permissive use. As long as your roommate only drives 12 times a year or less, he’s covered under your policy. If he plans on driving your car more often than this, you may want to suggest a
GEICO non-owner car insurance
. This is a liability policy that will cover him if he drives your car but doesn’t have a car of his own.
If your friend is routinely driving your car, adding them to your car insurance policy is a smart move. And while you can get a quote from GEICO, why not exhaust all avenues by comparison shopping for rates on the
