Does fast charging damage electric car batteries?

One of the things I don’t love about my EV is that the batteries take a long time to charge. I want to use quick charging, but my mechanic says that it’s not good. Does fast charging damage electric car batteries?

We understand! EVs have so many pros, but there are some cons. Yes, your mechanic is right, fast charging will damage the electric car batteries over time and may even shorten their lifespan.
Electric cars
run on a different energy source: rechargeable batteries. These are similar to the ones in laptops and mobile phones, but EV batteries are much bigger and more complex. The principle, however, is still the same: rechargeable batteries lose their ability to retain charge over time.
Rapid charging
is quick and convenient but it puts a lot more stress on the battery as it runs a high level of charge through it.
This can cause the
EV battery to overheat
which is another issue that affects battery health. Occasional usage is fine, but repetitive use can put a strain on the battery and affect its ability to hold a charge.
It’s awful when our phones or laptop batteries are unpredictable and die at 19%, but the worst thing would be an unpredictable EV battery!
Hope this helps!
