How does stress affect your driving?
My partner has been stressed with work lately and I’ve noticed he has a bit of a short-fuse while driving. I know stress isn’t good for the body but how can it affect his driving?

You’re right—stress can be harmful to the body and it can also directly impact your driving ability. Any emotion—stress, anger, fatigue, sadness, and more—can influence your ability to focus on the road, make good decisions, and comply with traffic regulations.
Stress has a direct link to increased driver aggression, meaning you’re more likely to make irrational driving moves, speed, or have a nasty case of road rage. High levels of stress can also leave your mind wandering when it should be on the road, which means more distraction, an increased risk of accidents, and a reduced ability to react to something like a squirrel darting in front of your car or a bend in the road.
On top of that, stress can take a physical toll on drivers. In some drivers, extreme stress can cause you to feel dizzy or lightheaded or may leave you feeling drowsy.
