Do I need to sign a PIP waiver with my insurance?

Am I required to sign a PIP waiver if I'm refusing PIP coverage for myself and my family? My insurance is requesting it, but I'm not sure what that means.

“In some states, you are able to reject certain coverages on your policy, even if they are a

state minimum car insurance

requirement.

This often includes

uninsured motorist coverage

and personal injury protection. When choosing to reject these coverage, insurance companies are required by law to get the rejection in writing.

The PIP waiver is the signed agreement stating you are rejecting personal injury protection on your

policy. Oftentimes, when you reject PIP coverage for yourself and any family, you may still have PIP benefits for guests or passengers.

However, this does depend on the state and their insurance regulations. If you’re not sure what the terms and conditions are in relation to the PIP waiver, reach out to your carrier. You’ll want to be fully aware of what you’re agreeing to before signing.”
