Do I have to get the car insurance that the car dealer wants me to?
Do I have to get the insurance that the dealer wants me to? I purchased a vehicle from a dealership, and now they're demanding that I change my car insurance coverage. I've already signed the loan and all other papers and drove the car off the lot.

“If it’s a matter of the insurance company, then no, they can’t force you to go with a particular company.
However, if they just want you to get full coverage
car insurance
instead of just liability coverage
, they’re within their legal rights to do so. Every car loan will list the fact that you need full coverage rather than liability insurance.
If this is what’s going on, you should probably make the switch. If you don’t, the dealer can add force-place insurance to the car, which is astronomically expensive.
Don’t always think the dealer is trying to screw you. This might just be a minor, easy switch.”
