Do electric cars need smog inspection in PA?

I heard electric cars have cheaper upkeep because they don’t have to get emissions testing. Do electric cars need smog inspection in PA?

Good question! Pennsylvania does not require a smog inspection on electric vehicles.
Although there is some talking about
synthetic gasoline being more eco-friendly
than electric cars, electric cars don’t have the harmful emissions that Pennsylvania tests vehicles for. Therefore, they’re exempt from needing to do that particular inspection.
However, you still need to get your electric vehicle
inspected in Pennsylvania
. Every vehicle in the US needs to get this annual inspection, although you’ll get a sticker showing you’re exempt from the emissions testing.
Whether your car runs on gasoline or electric power you always need insurance.
