but save money on fuel costs. There are some differences to know however when you’re shopping for an electric car for the first time. Cars with combustion engines also struggle to function at optimum capacity in extreme cold, but they have one benefit over electric cars in that the engine itself generates a lot of heat internally. The heat generated from the combustion engine helps heat the interior, and can even melt snow and ice off of the outside of the car.
The motor in an electric car doesn’t have a heat-generating engine, and any energy needed to heat the interior of the car is going to come out of your battery, reducing the overall range of your car.
Still, using the heat conservatively or using heated accessories like heated seat heats and a heated steering wheel instead of heating the cabin itself can help you save energy on your drive.
