Do diesel engines have spark plugs?

My car has a diesel engine. The engine has been acting up recently and my friend thinks my spark plugs are the issue. But I thought diesel engines don’t even have spark plugs. Who is right? Do diesel engines have spark plugs?

We can help settle this debate—diesel engines do not have spark plugs.
Spark plugs help create combustion in the engine by creating a spark that ignites the engine’s mixture of fuel and air.
However, diesel engines don’t use spark plugs. Instead, they have a compression ignition and glow plugs that heat the combustion chamber.
Issues with your engine may be caused by the glow plugs or by a myriad of other possible complications.
