Did Florida pass the no texting while driving law?
I’m moving to Florida in a few months, and texting drivers make me super nervous! I know they were talking about banning it entirely, but I’m not sure if anything came of that. Did they pass a law in Floriday banning texting while driving?

When it comes to texting drivers in Florida, you can relax! Florida made passed a law that made texting while driving a primary offense in July of 2019.
Florida motorists can be pulled over and issued a citation for texting while driving even if they haven’t committed any other traffic violation. Here are the penalties for breaking Florida’s
Wireless Communications While Driving Law
:- First-time offenders will be issued a non-moving traffic violation and a $30 fine, but they won’t get any points against their driver’s license.
- A driver that breaks the law a second time within five years will be issued a moving violation, a $60 fine, and three points on their driver’s license. In general, texting while driving isn’t worth the risk—doing so can cause an accident, and you might injure yourself or others. However, there are a few exceptions to the texting while driving law in Florida. These include:
- Performing official duties while operating an emergency vehicle.
- Reporting an emergency or alerting law enforcement to criminal or suspicious activity
- Using a device for navigation purposes
- Using voice-to-text It is also legal to text in your car if you’re parked, idling on the side of the road, or if you’re stopped at a red light. Make sure you put the phone down before you start moving, however—the second your wheels begin to turn, you’ll risk getting pulled over for texting while driving.
