Can you take the written driving test online in New Jersey?

I need to apply for my permit so I can start practicing driving. Can I do the written test online instead of at the testing center?

Unfortunately, you cannot do the knowledge test online in New Jersey.
You must first get your initial permit by making an appointment with a driver testing center. You will need to bring the
appropriate identification documents
to purchase the examination permit.
Once you receive your permit, you can book your knowledge and vision test. You will need to bring the same documents above to your test. The passing score for the knowledge test is 40 out of 50 (80%) multiple-choice questions.
To prepare for the test, study the
New Jersey Driver Manual
. The manual will cover safe driving practices and laws governing driver licenses—and it’s the key to passing the knowledge test! After studying, check your knowledge with the
sample knowledge test
to identify any areas that need more work.
If you fail the official test, you can take the test again in seven days. If you pass, your permit will be validated and you can start practicing!
A learner’s permit is considered a restricted driver’s license, meaning you will need to have proper
car insurance
. If you want to save money on car insurance, the

app is a good place to start. As a licensed broker, Jerry does all the hard work of finding cheap quotes from the top name-brand insurance companies.
