Can you jump start a car with a bad starter?

My starter has been pretty off and on lately, and I wonder if a jump start would help solve the issue. If my car has a bad starter, can I jump start it?

While you can
jump start
a car with a bad starter, doing so will not fix the underlying issue. A jump start is to boost your car’s
battery
, not the starter itself.
While the battery does power the starter through a relay, and a jump start can help give the starter the extra juice it needs to get your engine going, it is not guaranteed that a jump start will help if the issue is with the starter.
You’re better off seeing a mechanic to get the issue properly diagnosed and sorted. Either way, jumping your car every morning is not a tenable solution!
Taking your car in to a mechanic is a wonderful way to ensure that you’re taking good care of your set of wheels—as is equipping it with a sturdy
car insurance
policy.
