Can you get rid of force-placed insurance charges after they've already been charged to the balance of your loan?
I accidentally let my insurance lapse on my financed vehicle. My lender put force-placed insurance on my car. This nearly doubled my monthly payments and added to the total balance of the loan. Can these charges be removed now that I can show proof of my own insurance?

“No, unfortunately, there’s nothing you can do. You’ve essentially gotten really expensive insurance on your own. You wouldn’t expect the insurer to pay you back once you find a better rate.
In the future, you may want to find
auto insurance
that allows you to enroll in autopay so you don’t forget to pay your monthly premium.It’s a tough lesson learned, but a good one to keep in mind the next time you finance a car.”
