Can you flat tow a VW Golf?
I have a VW Golf that I want to tow to an amateur rally-cross race. However, I’ve never towed my Golf before and I’m not sure what the proper method is. Is it possible to flat tow a VW Golf?

You might be able to flat tow a VW Golf, but it depends on the transmission and whether your vehicle is still under warranty.

has never recommended flat towing—you’ll see that in your owner’s manual—and doing so can void the warranty if you still have one.However, if your car is no longer under warranty, it’s entirely your choice. The only conditions are that the Golf must have a manual transmission to flat tow it without damage and you must shift it into neutral before flat towing. That said, the only 100% safe way to tow a VW Golf is with a flatbed trailer.
