Wow, that sounds like a remarkably adventurous trip!
You can flat tow a Toyota Sienna—as long as you’re willing to make certain expensive modifications. Most Siennas have transmissions that don’t allow you to safely flat tow them.
Why? Well, the two main transmissions for the Sienna are a U-series automatic transmission or an A-series automatic transmission with optional all-wheel drive. If you flat tow a car with either of these, you will be forcing the transmission to run, but the transmission won’t be getting any oil to lubricate it. If there’s one thing to know about cars, it’s that they always need proper lubrication to work!
You can, though, buy an auxiliary electric oil pump to solve this problem, but it will run you $1,000-$2,000. If that price is worth it to you—and if you don’t want to tow a dolly or pull a trailer—this is your best bet to flat tow a Toyota Sienna.
