Can you flat tow a Kia Niro?

I just purchased a Kia Niro, and I want to take it with me on my next camping trip. My wife and I own an RV, but I’m not sure how I should tow the Niro when we go. Can I flat tow my Kia Niro, or do I need to tow it a different way?

You cannot flat tow a Kia Niro unless you’re in an emergency. Flat towing the Kia Niro damages the powertrain and transmission, which can cause significant damage and void the warranty. Additionally, your
car insurance claim
will likely be denied due to towing your Niro inappropriately or contrary to the directions in your owner’s manual.
The only acceptable way to tow a Kia Niro is with a flatbed trailer that lifts all four wheels off the ground. Since the Niro uses regenerative braking to recharge the battery, flat towing can damage this system, and subsequently, the rest of the drivetrain.
The Kia Niro’s hybrid powertrain is great for saving money at the pump. But did you know that a quick visit to the
