Can you flat tow a 2021 Ford Escape?
My local Ford dealer is having a clear-the-lot sale to make room for incoming cars. As such, I’ve had my eye on a 2021 Escape. But before I put forth the effort to set up a test drive, I want to make sure that it can be flat towed. Can I flat tow a 2021 Ford Escape?

Unfortunately, you cannot flat tow a 2021 Ford Escape. The Escape is built on an older-style Ford CD2 platform, which isn’t built for flat towing of any kind. However, you can tow the 2021 Ford Escape Hybrid if that’s an option. This has a different powertrain and platform, so it’s 100% capable.
If you want to haul your 2021 Ford Escape, you’ll need a flatbed trailer. These typically cost between $1,000 and $3,000, but if you look for a used one, you should be able to find a good deal.
