Can you flat tow a 2020 Kia Soul?
I’m heading out to the Ozarks for a motorhome trip with my cousins, but I’m a little worried that I’ll get irritated with them before long. I’d like to bring my Kia with us in case I want to go back home by myself. Can I flat tow my 2020 Kia Soul?

You can flat tow your 2020
Kia Soul
as long as it has a manual transmission. A 2020 Kia Soul with a continuously variable transmission (CVT) cannot be flat towed.Towing a 2020 Kia Soul with a CVT transmission can cause serious damage to it—while its wheels and axles will be in constant motion during a flat tow, the engine won’t be running. This means oil won’t be pumped through the engine and drivetrain for lubrication, leading to wear and potentially serious damage to the transmission.
Towing a 2020 Kia Soul with CVT transmission could put you in jeopardy of voiding your warranty, as flat towing is explicitly advised against by the manufacturer. If you go against this advice and flat tow your Kia Soul anyways, any insurance claims you file for any damage sustained from your flat-towing misadventure could be rejected by your insurer.
Of course, if you really want your 2020 Kia Soul to be the getaway car for your Ozark adventure with your cousins, you could always tow it on a flat bed. But that might be overkill.
