Can I submit a claim under my new insurance for something that happened while I was uninsured?
I got into a car accident after my insurance policy was canceled for non-payment. Can I get new insurance and wait a few months to submit a claim as if the accident just happened?

“Providing your insurance company with false information is considered fraud. Since you were uninsured when the accident happened, it is illegal to tell your new insurance company that the accident occured while you were covered.
While it’s upsetting to have to pay for damages out of pocket, the consequences of deceiving your insurance company can be much worse.
