Can I keep my USAA insurance after a divorce?

My ex-husband is in the military, so our car insurance and bank accounts are through USAA. I need to get my own car insurance, am I able to stay with USAA?

Even though you are divorced and not a member of the military, you can keep your
USAA car insurance
. USAA allows former spouses to maintain their membership.
The only thing they require is your ex-husband’s USAA member number and that you had joined USAA before or during your marriage. However, if you choose to remarry in the future, you won’t be eligible for USAA coverage anymore.
Although you’d like to stay with USAA, it never hurts to hop on
Jerry
to get some quotes from
other carriers
. Depending on your driving record and the discounts you qualify for, your rate with USAA could change without your ex-husband on the policy. By shopping around, you ensure you’re getting the
best price
for the coverage you require.
