Can you charge electric cars with a generator?

I experience blackouts at my house pretty often—sometimes for days at a time. I would love to get an electric car, but I live in the middle of nowhere and I’m afraid that I wouldn’t be able to charge my car to get to town if the power was out! Can you charge electric cars with a generator?

It’s great that you’re thinking about stuff like this in advance! Luckily, you can charge an electric car with a generator—it just might take a little longer than charging it with a typical charger.
If you’re worried about a blackout leaving you stranded, however, it might be a good idea to opt for a
hybrid car
instead. With a hybrid, you’ll have a fallback plan in the event that you’re not able to charge your car.
