Can I keep my car after it's marked a total loss?

I just got a Jeep from a used lot, and it’s not too old and in pretty decent shape. Lately, though, I’ve noticed that it makes some weird noises when I’m merging onto the highway. Can you tell me why my Jeep Wrangler makes a ticking noise when accelerating?
