Why does my Jeep Wrangler make a ticking noise when accelerating?

I just got a Jeep from a used lot, and it’s not too old and in pretty decent shape. Lately, though, I’ve noticed that it makes some weird noises when I’m merging onto the highway. Can you tell me why my Jeep Wrangler makes a ticking noise when accelerating?

If your
Jeep
Wrangler is making a ticking noise when accelerating, there are a couple of common reasons why it might be doing so: low oil pressure, a problem with the ignition system, an exhaust leak, faulty spark plugs, or a problem with the valvetrain are all possible culprits.
First things first, we’d recommend you grab your dipstick and check your engine oil levels. Engine oil is what keeps your engine well-lubricated—and what prevents different engine parts from bumping up against one another. If you don’t have enough motor oil, parts of your engine could be grinding up on each other and causing that ticking noise when accelerating.
But, if your engine oil levels look fine, it may be time to call your
mechanic
