I get how exciting it is to find your dream car—and fortunately for you, you should be able to buy the car, even with your license suspended. Most states have no law to stop you from purchasing a car with a suspended license.
Still, having a suspended license raises some extra hurdles in the process.
First, you won’t be able to drive the car off the lot (or drive it for the remainder of your suspension!). Of course, once the suspension is up, you should be able to hop behind the wheel of your car again.
Second, it will be difficult to get insurance for your vehicle. Although it is possible to get car insurance with a suspended license, it’s not easy—so it would probably be best to wait out the suspension before picking up a new car.
Third, you probably won’t be able to register your vehicle. Since insurance is a requirement for registration, a suspended license will stand in the way of vehicle registration.
At the end of the day, you should be able to buy that car you’ve had your eye on, but waiting out the suspension is never a bad idea. That way, you can jump into the driver’s seat right away and enjoy your new ride.
Most of the time, license suspensions come from driving violations, which can send your insurance rate through the roof. Jerry
