Do cats travel in cars well?

Is traveling with a cat difficult? I’m going home to visit my parents next week and I’ll need to bring my cat with me, but I’ve never taken her in the car before and I’m not sure what to expect.

The short answer to this question is no, most
cats
do not travel in cars well. However, there are definitely steps that you can take to make the journey more comfortable for you and your cat, such as:
  • Covering the carrier with a towel or blanket
  • Placing their favorite blanket and/or toy in the carrier with them
  • Using a hormonal treatment to calm them
  • Getting an anti-anxiety medication from your vet
  • Stopping as little as possible so that you can get the trip over with quickly
