My niece is coming from Germany to study at a university here in Georgia. She can drive with her German license and IDP for up to 30 days. Can she get a driver’s license here in the USA after that?

Georgia
only allows foreign drivers to use their home country’s license in combo with their IDP for 30 days—after that, they are considered a Georgia resident and must apply for a driver’s license.Your niece will need to gather some information and fill out some forms to get a license in Georgia. The process is complicated, but generally involves these steps:
- Applying for a social security number
- Updating the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System
- Filling out the I-20 and I-94 forms
- Preparing a US visa with supporting documents
- Collection of money to *pay fees
