Can a locksmith make a car key without the original?
I had the misfortune of being mugged yesterday and the thief made off with my purse. My car keys were inside and I can’t find the spare anywhere. Can a locksmith carve a replacement key if I don’t have the original?

However, you’re going to need some information before the locksmith will make the key, including:
- The VIN (vehicle identification number)
- Your car’s make, model, and year
- Your title and registration
