Can a landlord make a claim on my renters insurance?

I've been told that I need renters insurance to secure a condo I'm interested in. Can the condo's landlord make a claim on my policy?

No, a landlord cannot make a claim on your renters insurance. They can ask to be listed as an additional interest on the policy, but that just means they will be notified if the policy is canceled. Similarly, a tenant is unable to make a claim on the landlord’s insurance policy.
