At what temperature should I plug in my diesel truck?

I’m a new diesel truck owner and it gets pretty cold where I live. At what point do I need to worry about plugging the truck in?

Enjoy your new truck! A good rule is to plug in your engine block heater once the weather dips to about 5 F or lower.
Here are a few other tips for new diesel truck drivers:
  • Pay attention to the fuel filter as they are important to diesel trucks
  • Clean and change the air filter often
  • Diesel engines do not like cold temperatures, so keep your truck in a garage if you can
