Are there rest stops on 81 in Virginia?
My band just landed a gig in Nashville! We’re from Scranton, PA, so we’ll be driving most of the way on I-81. We’ll end up stopping to stretch our legs somewhere in Virginia, but are there rest stops on 81 in Virginia? Are they nice?

, also known as Music City USA! Some of the world’s greatest venues are there. Virginia
does indeed have rest stops all along I-81. There are six northbound and six southbound, plus welcome centers at each end. Here are the general areas of each rest stop:
Southbound:- Winchester: Safety rest area and Welcome Center
- New Market: Safety rest area
- Mount Sydney: Safety rest area
- Fairfield: Safety rest area
- Troutville: Safety rest area
- Radford: Safety rest area
- Smyth: Safety rest area
Northbound:
- Bristol: Safety rest area and Welcome Center
- Abingdon: Safety rest area (trucks only)
- Rural Retreat: Safety rest area
- Radford: Safety rest area
- Ironto: Safety rest area
- Mount Sydney: Safety rest area
- New Market: Safety rest area
