I’m all about taking self-driving cars when they arrive in New York City. I feel like NYC is at the forefront of this technology, but I haven’t heard much about its legality. In New York, are self-driving cars legal?

.However, the state has passed two bills regarding self-driving cars:
- The commissioner of the DMV has the right to carry out tests and demonstrations on self-driving cars, provided it’s under the supervision of law enforcement.
- Law enforcement and the police superintendent of a particular district must enact a plan testing how first responders should interact with any incident involving a self-driving car.
