Are car dealerships open on Sundays?

My parents just told me they’re going to buy me a new car, and I get to pick it out myself! I want to go tomorrow, but they said I have to wait until Monday since the dealership won’t be open. Is that true?

I hate to break it to you, but your parents are right. In most states, it’s illegal for car dealerships to be open on Sundays.
The laws that keep dealerships closed on Sunday have their origins in late 1800s and early 1900s “Blue Laws” that made certain actions illegal on Sundays for religious reasons. Most of these laws have been repealed, but some—like the edict against selling cars—remain.
Even without the law, many dealerships maintain they’d still close up shop on Sunday, and for good reason—even car salespeople need a day off sometimes.
Since you won’t be hitting the car dealer tomorrow, why not take a minute to download the
